CHYK Study Groups and the manual for the study

These are the decisions taken during a marathon session of a meeting held in the month of December 2000 as per the guidance of Pujya Guruji. Pujya Guruji had approved these decisions and hence we are giving below as guidelines for all the study groups of CHYK.

The age groups for the various groups in chyk are as follows.

Junior chyk age group is 14 to 18 years.
Chyk age group is 19 to 24 years.
Senior chyk age group is 25 to 28 years.

The idea is that after 28 years of age, they will work in the Mission guiding the Chyks and other Bala vihar classes. Senior chyks will learn about the organization more in depth apart from their studies and slowly take up the higher responsibilities in the Mission.

Pujya Guruji gave the following order of study for junior chyk. The time with in which the text is to be completes is given below as guidance for all the classes.

For Junior Chyks

1 Game of life 8 weeks
2 I love you 12 weeks
3 Hanuman Chalisa 16 weeks
4 Art of God Symbolism 12 weeks
5 Art of living 1 year
6 Bhajagovindam 6 months
TOTAL STUDY PERIOD 2 1/2 years

Note: - Excluding certain weekdays and other holidays etc, the study for the Junior Chyk will take around 3 ½ to 4 years.

 

Pujya Guruji gave the following order of study for the chyks.

i. Self unfoldment 1 ½ year
ii. Art of Man Making 2 years
iii. We must 6 months
iv. Vibheeshana Geeta 1 month
V. Sadhana Panchakam 2 months
vi. Right thinking 1 month
TOTAL STUDY PERIOD 4 ½ years (approx.)

Each Chyk study class is for 90 minutes (1 ½ Hr) and the time must be utilized as follows: -

- First 15 minutes in chanting
- 1 hour in discussion
- Last 15 minutes should be utilised by reading few pages from the book “Every breath a teaching” and/or “Journey of the Master” for the junior chyk. “Wanderings in Himalayas” for the chyk class between 19 to 24 years age group.

We have also discussed about the “activities”, which would inspire 14 to 18 years age group and 19 to 24 years age group. Please consider the following.

ACTIVITIES FOR 14 TO 18 Yrs AGE GROUP:-

Temple cleaning and visiting Temples, 1 day Picnics once in 3 months, Skits, Dramas, organising mathru pujya for bala-vihar children, bhajans, celebration of festivals and learning the art of decorating the alter, chanting of hanuman chalisa, competitions such as drawing and painting, singing, debates and sports, nagarasankeertan, etc.

ACTIVITIES FOR 19 TO 24 Yrs AGE GROUP:-

Bike rallies, Trekking, Medical camps, organising inter bala-vihar sports competitions, meditation sessions, visiting old age homes, blind schools and orphanages, organising seminars with popular people, fund raising programs, singing and releasing bhajan cassettes, book exhibitions and propogating book sales, career guidance seminars, relay yagnas, organising work shops on art of public speaking etc.
